Kūlua literally means, “two standing”, and refers to a pair or mates.  It is also an old reference for our island of Maui, acknowledging our two mauna, Haleakalā and Pu’u Kukui.  It can be duality and pairs found in nature.  Or it can be pairs in life - like soul mates or duos that are better together.  These pairs can even transcend time.

Kūlua is a brand of clothing grounded in Hawai’i Nei, whose foundation are kūpuna and pōhaku.  A brand whose identity is steeped in generations of weavers and a love of textiles.  A brand made right here on Maui, often by the light of the moon and mostly by Anna’s own hands.  The fabrics you see feature the artwork of Kyra Ka’alekahi and are chosen in line with industry best practices for sustainability and eco-friendliness.

It’s ‘āina inspired design that, in turn, is as good for the environment as possible.  A blend of old and new.  Pōhaku and ‘opihi.  Kānaka and kūpuna.  The ebb and flow of life.  The beauty in pairs.

Aia ke ola i ke kū a ‘aha lua.  There is life in standing in twos.
