'Opihi are a prized limpet in Hawai'i nei. Found steadfastly attached to pōhaku down by the ocean, 'opihi are gathered by the confident lawai'a (fisherman) who can withstand the treacherous pound of the shorebreak.
'Opihi is a common saying for a young child who clings to their mākua (parents).
